Lady Aggies Even at 4-4 after Missouri Southern Loss
- by Scott Puryear of OPSU Sports on 12/08/07

Goodwell, Okla. - An undefeated Missouri Southern State team was in the Oklahoma Panhandle State gym on Friday and came away with a 59-44 win over the Lady Aggies. The game was tied at halftime at 21-21.

Neither team shot well from the field in the opening half – each just under 30% - but MSSU came out strong in the second half and hit 53%. With 10:50 to play, MSSU led by only two points at 38-36, but the visitors went on a 21-8 run to close the contest. The Lady Aggies still had a chance to stay in the game at the free throw line, but converted only ten of 18 tries in the second half.

Ro Wilson and Cherrelle Tillis led the Lady Aggies with 12 and ten points, respectively. Ceara Brown dropped in eight points and Sarah Polson netted six. Polson was the rebound leader with eight and Connie Maas pulled down six.

OPSU coach Brad Vanden Boogaard thought the Lady Aggies did a good job on defense and was proud of the way some of his players stepped up to fill some key roles. He added that he was not pleased with the Lady Aggie performance at the foul line.

MSSU’s record is now 7-0 and OPSU evened their record at 4-4.

The Lady Aggies had been set to play Manhattan Christian on Saturday, but that team elected not to travel because of weather problems and the contest has been postponed.

On December 17 and 18 the Lady Aggies will be Hawaii for games with Brigham Young University–Hawaii and Emporia State. Their next scheduled home action will be on January 10 when they open Heartland Conference play against the University of the Incarnate Word.
