Goodwell, Okla. - The Oklahoma Panhandle State women’s basketball team picked up a solid 57-48 win over St. Gregory’s in Shawnee, Oklahoma on Saturday afternoon. Last year’s all league center in the Heartland Conference, Nina Kuleff, led the way for the Lady Aggies with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
The Lady Aggies held St. Gregory’s under 20 points in the first half as they took a 27-17 lead at halftime.
With her scoring and rebounding output, it was Kuleff’s second “double-double” in as many games. The 6’0 senior from Phoenix also handed out three assists and made a key steal.
In a balanced scoring attack, OPSU’s Ro Wilson scored 11, Sara Polson scored nine, Yadira Ortega added eight, and Megan Hamilton dropped in seven. Ortega had four assists and Connie Heiniger had a game high three steals. Polson also pulled down seven rebounds.
OPSU coach Jerry Olson was pleased with the leadership and performance of Kuleff and added that Wilson and Heiniger made very valuable contributions off the bench.
The Lady Aggies (2-7) will be spending the majority of their time with final examinations this week and will be back in action on Friday evening in Hays, Kansas to take on a tough Fort Hays State team.
