OPSU Adds Another Outstanding Student Athlete
by Aggie Sports on 06/16/05
Goodwell, OK – Jerod Kersey, named a Junior College All-American at Colby Community College, has committed to be a student athlete at Oklahoma Panhandle State University. The Oklahoman from Guymon will be a part of the Aggie cross country squad in the fall.
During the 2004-05 competitive season at Colby, Kersey was outstanding in the ranks of national junior college performers. Competing for the Trojan cross country team, he was a national place winner with a time in the ½ Marathon of 1:15:32.
As a member of Colby’s outdoor track team in the spring, Kersey continued to excel and earned JUCO All-America honors for his performance in the grueling 3k Steeplechase.
Jerry Olson, OPSU Director of Athletics, is excited about a performer of Kersey’s caliber being a part of the Aggie program and pointed out that the young man’s times last season show that he can challenge for the championship in the Heartland Conference (of which OPSU is a member).
Watch out for Jerod Kersey, but you probably won’t get much of a look because he’ll be moving pretty fast.
