Aggies Fall to Western State, 47-14

Goodwell, Okla. - In Saturday college football action, Western State visited Oklahoma Panhandle State and jumped out to a 40-8 halftime lead and held on for a 47-14 win over the Aggies. It was the first win of the season for the Mountaineers in eight tries, while OPSU fell to 0-7.
Both Aggie touchdowns came courtesy of Gabe Gillmore passes, the first was for nine yards to Chris Manross and the second was a six-yarder to Teron Guidry. Gillmore completed 14 of 32 passes for 217 yards.
Chad Sauceda led OPSU receivers with four grabs for 80 yards, including a nice 53-yarder from Gillmore. Johnnie King gained 53 yards on three catches and Guidry’s four receptions were good for 43 yards.
Aggie linebacker Matt Warner is among the leading tacklers in the nation, and added to his totals with some tough play on Saturday that included 11 solo tackles and three assists. Steven McAlpine and Gus Overstreet each chipped in six tackles.
The Aggies will hit the road on each of the next two weekends. This coming Saturday, they will be in Tyler to go up against Texas College (3-5) and the following week, on November 3, they will be in Bethany, Oklahoma to face Southern Nazarene.
They will conclude their season on November 10 against Eastern New Mexico at home.
