Goodwell, Okla. -- Going through football withdrawal? Fall seems a long time to wait, so plan now to watch live football on Saturday, April 19 at Carl Wooten Field in Goodwell as the OPSU Aggies split into teams and take each other on their annual spring game. In addition, the 2007 Aggie Football Lettermen will be honored during a half-time ceremony.
As what has become the norm with all universities across the nation, the spring game will pit the Aggie offensive unit against the Aggie defensive unit. Special scoring will be utilized during the game, as follows:
1 point for a first down
2 points for three consecutive first downs
2 points for an explosive play (run of 10+ yards, pass of 15+ yards)
6 points for a touchdown
2 points for holding the offense to three plays and out
3 point for a turnover (interception or fumble recovered)
3 points for a stop in the red zone (inside their own 20 yard line)
10 points for a touchdown
All play will initiate from the 20 yard line of the offense and the offense will only be able to use three downs until it crosses the defense’s 35 yard line, then they may use four downs. Punts and other special teams will only be done as an exhibition and will not be live.
Halftime ceremonies will feature the honoring of more than 40 Aggie football lettermen still active in the football program who will receive their Aggie “O” letterman’s certificate.
An open reception is planned from 9 p.m.-11 p.m. in the OPSU Ballroom on Saturday night. Aggie players and family members will be attending and participating in a night of board game competition with refreshments being served.
Game time is set for 5 p.m., admission is free and a full-service concession stand will be offered, so bring your family and friends to cheer on your favorite Aggies!
