OPSU's 5'9" Stick of Dynamite - David Daniels

Goodwell, OK - At five feet, nine inches tall, Oklahoma Panhandle State running back David Daniels is usually one of the smallest men on the football field. However, the junior-to-be from Duncanville, Texas is one tough cookie either with the ball in his hands or throwing a block, and in 2004, emerged as a very good running back. An All-Independent Football Alliance choice last year, Daniels also has the ability to show opponents the back of his jersey on kick returns.

In 2003, in a reserve role as a freshman, Daniels gained 235 yards on 53 carries, caught a pass for 18 yards, and scored twice. Gaining the starting job in 2004, he was the Aggies' leading rusher with 793 yards and six touchdowns in 141 attempts. He also caught three passes for 60 yards and another score, averaged 20.5 yards on 14 kick-off returns, and had a sparkling 12.6 yard average on 11 punt returns.

The 180-pounder averaged almost 128 yards per game in all purpose running last season and also had two long kick returns (that would have been touchdowns) called back because of penalties.

Pound for pound, Daniels is one of the strongest men on the OPSU team and always appears to be in "game shape." Lots of opposing players will probably be chasing Mr. Daniels again this fall.
