Spotted Wolf Working to Make It Happen at OPSU
by Aggie Sports on 07/15/05
Goodwell, OK - Upon accepting the head coach position at OPSU, Kyle Davis immediately went to work on personnel issues, which included the building of relationships with current Aggie players, recruiting, and assembling a coaching staff capable of both accepting and responding to the challenges of NCAA football.
Davis wanted an Assistant Head Coach with a true understanding of the game of football as well as leadership abilities, and made the wise decision to bring in Lloyd Spotted Wolf.
Armed with a Bachelor of Arts from Adams State and a Master's from the University of New Mexico, nine years of coaching experience, and a commitment to excellence plus a strong work ethic, Spotted Wolf arrived in Goodwell and hit the ground running.
A successful and honored player in high school in Albuquerque, New Mexico and in college at Adams State, Spotted Wolf developed his coaching skills while making solid contributions at the high school and collegiate (Divisions IA, II and III) levels.
At La Cueva High School in Albuquerque, Spotted Wolf was in charge of the offensive line for a squad that won state championships in both 2003 and 2004, compiling a 26-0 record. In 2001 and 2002, he served as Special Teams Coordinator/Offensive Line Coach at the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire. The "O" line, under Spotted Wolf's guidance, was a major strength on a team that won the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Prior to his success at Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Spotted Wolf was on the staff of the University of New Mexico, working with offensive lineman and special teams.
The successful offensive schemes of the Aggies have been largely responsible for winning seasons in each of the last two years. With Spotted Wolf's knowledge of the game and his teamwork based attitude, his combination with Kyle Davis-style football brings an exciting new level of expectations for OPSU football.
