Aggies Fall to Powerful Pittsburg State

Goodwell, OK - The Oklahoma Panhandle State Aggies fell
to the Pittsburg State Gorillas 70-0 on Saturday in Pittsburg,
Kansas. The Gorillas’ gifted running back, Germaine
Race, scored three touchdowns in the first half to lead
his team to a 42-0 lead over the Aggies at the intermission.
Pittsburg State, who entered the game as the 20th ranked
team in the country in NCAA Division II, continued their
solid play on both sides of the ball in the second half
and increased their lead to 63-0 at the end of the third
period. They picked up another seven points in the final
quarter to end the scoring at 70-0 and up their record
to 5-2. Rice ended the day with 111 yards on 13 carries
and four TDs.
The Aggies (now 1-6) were led offensively by David Daniels’ 69
yards in 23 carries. On defense, Kendrick Bevil was in
on a dozen tackles and Gary Hendricks recorded a sack.
OPSU will continue with their rugged road schedule next
week as they face another nationally ranked opponent, Texas
State in San Marcos.
