OPSU Hosts Heartland Conference Golf Tournament

Goodwell, Okla. - College golfers from eight schools challenged the Sunset Hills course in Guymon on Monday and Tuesday during the annual Heartland Conference Golf Tournament. Oklahoma Panhandle State was the host school for the event.

The men’s teams played 54 holes over two days, and the women’s squads went a total of 36 holes. Western New Mexico University claimed both team titles, and golfers from all the teams played well during the two sunny, albeit windy, days.

The Lady Aggies finished in seventh place, and freshman Shilo Leatherman from Elk City claimed a tie for 19th place among the individual competitors. The 36 hole totals for the OPSU women’s team were:

Molly Bentley

The 87 recorded by Byers was her lowest score ever on her home course.

The OPSU men also finished in seventh place and were paced by Kacey Carbery’s 54 hole total of 219, good for a tie for 13th place. Carbery is a junior from Columbia, S.C. Totals for the Aggies were:
