Goodwell, Okla. - Last Monday and Tuesday, the Oklahoma Panhandle State men’s golf squad went up against ten other teams in the OPSU Invitational at the Sunset Hills course in Guymon. Robert Hamilton of the Aggies and Wes Nichols (Hutchinson Community College) battled each other from the start to the 36th (and final) hole and when the smoke had cleared, both golfers shared medalist honors with even par totals of 140.
Hutchinson won the team title with 574 (+14), followed by Dodge City CC at 591 (+31). The Aggies, paced by Hamilton and seventh place Chris Herring (146), fought their way to a very solid third-place team finish with a total of 587 (+37).
Other OPSU golfers were Clint Thomas (151), Cash Reumkens (160), and Robert Adams (163).
Aggie head coach Roger McKinnon was pleased with the team’s effort (especially Hamilton) and noted the improvement they have continued to make this fall.
