Big, BIG Games at OPSU on Wednesday
Night
by Scott Puryear of Aggie Sports on 02-14-06
GOODWELL, Okla. - Two big college basketball games
are set for Wednesday night in the Oklahoma Panhandle State
gym. The men’s and women’s teams from St. Edward’s
University will be in town for important match-ups with the
Aggies and the Lady Aggies.
The season is winding down, and the
Wednesday contests will help determine the seedings and
locations of the Heartland Conference Tournament games.
The top four teams in the conference qualify for postseason
play, and the Lady Aggies currently stand in fourth place
with a 6-4 record (13-12 overall). They trail St. Edward’s by two games in the loss column
and St. Mary’s by just one.
The Aggies are 4-5 in conference play
(7-17 overall). They currently stand in fifth place but
are just one game out of a third place tie with St. Mary’s and Western New
Mexico. The St. Edward’s men’s team is in a tie
for first with a 7-1 record.
Both of the St. Edward’s teams
have been hot in recent weeks, and both own home court
victories over the OPSU teams, but not by much. On January
11, both OPSU teams were in Austin with the Aggies falling
62-58 and the Lady Aggies losing 70-60 in overtime.
It should be an exciting night of college basketball between
two evenly matched teams. The Lady Aggies will get things
started at 6 p.m.
The house should be rocking at OPSU on Wednesday night.
Both games will also be made available
by KGYN radio, live via internet broadcast. Log on to www.opsu.edu
and click on Athletics to find the link. Fans may also
listen to the games on PTCI’s DITV channel 150.
