Fieser, Anderson Named OPSU’s Top Student Athletes

Goodwell, Okla.- Each year, Oklahoma Panhandle State University honors a male and female student athlete for overall excellence. This year’s honorees are Tim Anderson and Danae Fieser.

Anderson and Fieser were selected as the 2006 Male and Female Student Athletes of the Year based upon a combination of citizenship, scholarship, leadership and athletic performance.

Fieser is a senior from Plains, Kan. who competed as a member of the
OPSU cross country team. She consistently had the best times on the
team and was nominated for her work ethic. Fieser, an agribusiness major, demonstrates leadership in the classroom as well as in athletics.

Anderson, a senior from Chicago, received All-Heartland Conference Men’s Basketball Team honors as a guard. He demonstrated his work ethic and leadership all season, playing through most of it with an eye injury. He averaged 5.6 ppg., had 27 steals and led the Aggies in
assists. Anderson, a social studies major, also works hard in the
classroom and excels in his studies.

The Male and Female Student Athletes of the Year are among the most prestigious awards given by OPSU. In addition to Anderson and Fieser, the finalists for this year’s awards were:
