Aggies and Lady Aggies in Exhibition Basketball Action

Goodwell, Okla. - The Oklahoma Panhandle State University men’s and women’s basketball teams played in exhibition games over the weekend. Though the contests were quite valuable to both teams as far as the overall experience as well as getting their respective campaigns started, neither the game results nor the statistics are part of the official season record.
In Stillwater on Friday night, the Aggies were in Gallagher-Iba Arena to go against Oklahoma State University. The game was played in front of 12,946 fans and the Cowboys topped the Aggies 91-54. The Aggies overcame some cold shooting in the first half and were outscored in the second half by only two points (32-30).
Aggie newcomer Basil Laslie, a junior guard, was his team’s leading scorer with 12 points. LaChawn Anderson added nine and Fred Durr chipped in eight. Antoine Callum was the Aggies’ leading rebounder with six and Mark Bultman was right behind with five.
OPSU president Dr. Dave Bryant and his family attended the game as guests of Regent Lou Watkins, Chair of the Board of Regents for the Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical Colleges, who is also an avid sports fan. Bryant and his two grandsons joined the Aggies on the bench during the game.
In Kansas City on Saturday, the Lady Aggies were in exhibition action against the University of Missouri- Kansas City. UMKC won the contest 70-47.
Jasmine Williams, a 6’1 junior from Phoenix, was OPSU’s leading scorer with 15. Sedra Watkins scored eight for the Lady Aggies and Sarah Polson added seven. Williams also pulled down 14 rebounds, Connie Maas grabbed six and Watkins had five.
