Goodwell, OK - The excitement of competitive soccer continues in Goodwell as Oklahoma Panhandle State University hosts the area adult soccer tournament. Several teams have competed over the last two weekends, heading for the championship set this coming Sunday.

Last weekend, an excited crowd greeted two very competitive teams, “El Tri” and “Real
Guatemala.” The action was fast and furious, but good defense on both sides held the score to 2-1 at the intermission, with El Tri leading.

The players gave their all on the nice, albeit windy, Panhandle day as the enthusiastic fans cheered them on. Both teams were entertaining to watch. Their camaraderie is evident with their constant “high fives” and encouragement of each other, and many of them are exceptional athletes.

Though each team continued to play hard, El Tri forged ahead as the game progressed, and picked up a 6-2 victory. Soccer can be a bit rougher than some may think, and players from both teams were down a few times and a player from each team was assisted off the playing field, though neither was seriously injured.

The fun of the tournament will continue again next Sunday with two games (scheduled for 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM). The contests will be played at Carl Wooten Field on the OPSU campus.
