Five Make CNFR Short Round

Following the completion of the third round of action at the College National Finals Rodeo last night, five Oklahoma Panhandle State University team members will compete in the championship round tonight.
Erica Brown, an OPSU senior from Pocatello,
Idaho, sits seventh in the average of the breakaway
roping with a combined time of 9.2 seconds in three
rounds. Teammate Stacey Watland took third in the third
round of the goat tying, and goes into tonight’s round in 11th place in the average. This Poulsbo, Washington native, also a senior, has posted a total of 22.7 seconds in that event.
In other timed events, Trell Etbauer,
a freshman from Goodwell, is first place in the average
in the steer wrestling with a total of 17.1 seconds
in the first three rounds. Buster Holland will also
compete in the short round of that event. The junior
from Sublette, Kansas currently sits 9th in the average.
The
only rough stock competitor from OPSU in the short
round is Dusty Hausauer, a senior from Dickinson,
North Dakota. He placed first in the third round with
a 78.5 point ride, and sits fifth in the average with
a combined score of 217.5.
The OPSU men’s team currently sits 13th overall, with Tarleton State University in first place, holding over twice as many points as the second place team. Watland and Brown have earned enough points to put the OPSU women’s team in 19th place.
