Goodwell, OK - The National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association in Walla Walla, Washington, recently announced the 2005 Academic All-American recipients. Two Oklahoma Panhandle State University students met the criteria for the honor which includes qualifying for the 2005 College National Finals Rodeo and maintaining a 3.5 cumulative grade point average.

Poulsbo, Wash. native Stacey Watland will graduate this May with a bachelor’s degree in biological science and plans to go on to graduate school. Watland won 6th in the goat tying in the short round of the CNFR in June and placed seventh in the average.

Trell Etbauer, of Goodwell, Okla., is an OPSU sophomore this year and plans to graduate with a business administration degree in accounting. As a freshman at the 2005 CNFR, Etbauer split first in the average of the steer wrestling and also qualified for CNFR in the saddle bronc riding.

Besides practicing for and competing in college rodeo, both of these fine student athletes have also used their time to maintain good grades, work, and help raise funds for the team. Congratulations for being recognized for your hard work!
