Goodwell, Okla. - Choosing the two best inside players in the Heartland Conference this basketball season was not a difficult task . . . Will Stephenson of the Aggies and Jasmine Williams of the Lady Aggies. Each was named to the All-Conference first team.

When Stephenson arrived on the OPSU campus in the fall of 2006, his talent and work ethic was obvious to any and all who saw him in preseason workouts. In the 2006-07 season, that hard work paid off as he was in the top ten in league scoring, second in rebounding, and first in blocked shots.

For the 2007-08 season, the 6’6 Stephenson (from Chicago) performed with distinction for the Aggies all year and won the conference scoring title with a 20.7 average. He was also the co-leader in rebounding with 8.7 per game.

In addition, Stephenson finished second in the league in blocked shots with 1.69 per game. He was named the Heartland Player of the Week twice during the season and showed true senior leadership.

What’s next for Will Stephenson? First on his list is to finish his degree in Health, Physical Education and Recreation, which he is going after with the same dedication he showed on the basketball court.

After that? Following the future of Will Stephenson is going to be very interesting for Aggie fans.

Williams, a junior from Phoenix, earned two very important honors from the league this season. She was named to the All-Heartland First Team and was also honored as the league’s Newcomer of the Year.

The 6’1 Williams established herself as one of the league’s strongest inside players, winning the Heartland rebounding title with 8.8 boards per game. She finished fourth in scoring with a 14.7 average and had 19 “Double-Doubles” (scoring/rebounding) in 27 regular season games and three times was named the conference Player of the Week.
What’s next for Jasmine Williams? More of the same as an OPSU student athlete is the answer. She will continue to work hard toward her degree in Accounting and continue to work hard in preparation for her senior season on the basketball court.
