Goodwell, Okla. - The Oklahoma Panhandle State softball team brought some strong pitching and fielding, along with some loud bats, to their double header sweep of New Mexico Highlands on Wednesday afternoon on the OPSU field.

LADY AGGIES 9 NM, Highlands 1
The Lady Aggies put the Cowgirls away with a big six-run fifth inning. OPSU hurler Teena Joos pitched a complete game and did not walk a batter, while giving up just a single run. OPSU picked up their seventh win of the season by a convincing 9-1 margin.

Roxie Palacios and Denise Degenhardt each had two hits for OPSU and third baseman Antonia Ramirez had two RBIs. Connie Heiniger and Krystal Comeaux each scored twice for the Lady Aggies.

LADY AGGIES 11, NM Highlands 6
In the second game, New Mexico Highlands held a 6-4 lead after 5-1/2 innings, but a bases loaded triple by Roxie Palacios and a solo home run by Krystal Comeaux led the Lady Aggies to an exciting 11-6 victory.

Eight different OPSU players recorded hits with Palacios, Comeaux, and Denise Degenhardt each getting two.

Palacios, a hard working catcher from Crosby, Texas entered the double header as one of the best hitters in the Heartland Conference with a .306 batting average. In the two Wednesday games, the freshman had four hits in seven at-bats and drove in five runs.

With the two wins, the Lady Aggies raised their season record to 8-33.
