Goodwell, Okla. - Two Oklahoma Panhandle State softball players have earned huge honors with their All-Heartland Conference selections.

Cathy Daza was named to the First Team as an infielder. The sophomore second baseman from Cambridge, Ontario, Canada has been a sparkplug for OPSU all season. She led the Lady Aggies in runs scored (34) and stolen bases (15), earned a fielding percentage of .934, and batted a solid .297.

Daza has also been named the OPSU Softball Student-Athlete of the Year for overall excellence on the softball diamond as well as in the classroom.

Roxie Palacios grabbed one of the biggest honors in the conference – Freshman of the Year - as well as a Second Team All-Conference berth as a catcher. The hard worker from Crosby, Texas led the Lady Aggies with a .336 batting average, 19 runs batted in, and carried an outstanding fielding percentage of .929. She is also an outstanding student.

Big things will be expected again next season from both Daza and Palacios.
