- by Scott Puryear of OPSU Sports on 03/14/2007
Goodwell, Okla. - A pair of Oklahoma Panhandle State student athletes are currently challenging for Heartland Conference batting titles.
For the Lady Aggie softball team, utility player Stacey Harbour is running second in the chase for the batting crown with a .375 average. Melissa Perez of the University of the Incarnate Word is the current leader with a .400 average. Harbour is a junior from Nowata, Oklahoma who has had a hot bat over the last week and should make a solid run at the title.
Josh Garcia, second baseman on the OPSU baseball team, is currently running eighth in the league in batting with a .388 average. Garcia is tied for the league lead in doubles with eight and is working to become the first Aggie to hit .400 since the excellent Ryan Forsythe averaged .405 in the 2003 season.
