Lady Aggies Make a Great Effort
in Tournament

Goodwell, OK - The Oklahoma Panhandle State Aggie
volleyball team lost both of their matches in the Lady Aggie
Tournament on Friday, but if there were an award for the
biggest hearts in the gym they would have won it.
In the first game of the first match of the day, the Lady
Aggies faced Southwestern Oklahoma State and the two teams
made it a very good tangle. The score see-sawed back and
forth until it was tied at 28-28, then Southwestern took
the final two points for the game victory.
The next two games were also close, with Southwestern
picking up pair of victories, 30-22 and 30-26.
Kirbi Twilligear played some great defense for the Lady
Aggies and on the offensive side, Val Armstrong played
well. Twilligear is a senior from Leakey, Texas and Armstrong
is a junior from Brule, Nebraska.
In the Lady Aggie’s second match they met a fine
Friends University team, led by the splendid player, Rachel
Salvo. The OPSU team was up to the task and made a serious
run in each game. The final scores showed Friends picking
up wins in all of the three games making up the match (30-28,
30-27, and 30-28).
OPSU’s Lacy Jones and Katie Denning (both sophomores)
were outstanding in the games with Friends. Jones is from
Akron, Colorado and Denning is from Dumas, Texas.
On Saturday, the Lady Aggies showed more determination
as they went against the best team in the tournament, Midwestern
State. The visitors won all three games in the match (30-23,
30-11, and 30-15).
