Goodwell, OK - The Oklahoma Panhandle State volleyball
team played well in their matches over the weekend with
Heartland Conference rival St. Edward’s (the Hilltoppers).
On Friday, the Hilltoppers started quickly and won the
first two games of the match (30-21 and 30-27), though
the Lady Aggies did not make it easy on them.
In the third game of the match, the Lady Aggies played
some very good volleyball, and picked up a 30-23 win. However,
the Hilltoppers came back strong and won the fourth game
(30-23), giving them a 3-1 match victory.
Lacy Jones led the Lady Aggies with eight kills and teammates
Krista Simpson and Val Armstrong each had six. The hard
working Kirbi Twilligear had 24 defensive digs, and Simpson
and Armstrong each had six blocks.
The same two teams met on Saturday for another match.
St. Edward’s won the first game 30-18, as well as
the second, 30-17. Jones continued to play tough for the
Lady Aggies, especially with her serves and defense.
In the third game of the match, St. Edward’s jumped
out to a fast 21-8 lead and held on for a 30-18 win, and
the match victory.
The next home action for the Lady Aggies will be against
Montana State – Billings on October 3.
