Goodwell, Okla. — Oklahoma Panhandle State University hosted four excellent volleyball matches last weekend, featuring three exciting teams – the Lady Aggies, Western New Mexico and the University of Texas-Permian Basin.

UT-Permian Basin 3, OPSU 0

On Friday, UT-PB won all three games (30-12, 30-12, and 30-20), but there was exciting volleyball on both sides of the net.

For the Lady Aggies, Amber McKinney had seven kills and Val Armstrong added five. Misty Sims had ten assists and Cheryl Coldwell chipped in seven. Sarah Moran led both teams with 17 digs and Molly Woodhall had a dozen.

Though UT-PB won the match in three games (30-25, 30-12, and 30-24) on Saturday, the Lady Aggies played well and challenged in all three.

OPSU’s Val Armstrong led the Lady Aggies with a dozen kills and teammate Amber McKinney added ten. Misty Sims had 22 assists and Cheryl Coldwell had 13. Sarah Moran and Molly Woodhall led the Lady Aggies in digs with 24 and 20, respectively.

Western New Mexico 3, OPSU 0

The Mustangs of Western New Mexico, perhaps the best squad in the Rocky Mountain conference, went against OPSU on Saturday afternoon and the Lady Aggies played well against a very tough team. The Mustangs won the match 30-16, 30-20, and 30-21.

Val Armstrong led the Lady Aggies with a dozen kills and Cheryl Coldwell had 14 assists. Sarah Moran came up with 13 digs and Coldwell added ten more.

In the fourth game of the weekend volleyball action in the OPSU gym, Western New Mexico topped UT-PB 3-0 (30-12, 30-21, and 30-20).

The Lady Aggies, now 2-18, won’t be back on their home court until Homecoming Weekend (October 13th and 14th), when they will play big Heartland Conference matches against the University of the Incarnate Word.
