Lady Aggies Drop Two Matches to Incarnate Word

Goodwell, Okla. — The OPSU volleyball team was part of the big homecoming sports weekend and played two exciting matches with Heartland Conference rival Incarnate Word. The two hardworking teams played on both Friday and Saturday, with the visiting Cardinals winning both matches 3-0.
The Lady Aggies, playing for first-year coach Eric Viney, played well despite being hit very hard by recent injuries, including those to starters Val Armstrong and Catherine Clay.
On Friday, the Cardinals won the match 30-26, 30-27, and 30-12. For OPSU, Amber McKinney had a game high 14 kills and Molly Woodhall added 11. Cheryl Coldwell had 19 assists, while Misty Sims and Woodhall led the Lady Aggies in defensive digs with 13 and 11, respectively.
On Saturday, Incarnate Word again picked up the match win 3-0 (30-24, 30-17, and 30-16). McKinney led the Lady Aggies with eight kills and Coldwell had 13 assists. Sarah Moran came up with 19 digs.
The OPSU volleyball team will hit the road for two weeks and then return to Oscar Williams Fieldhouse for their final home matches of the season on October 27 and 28 against Dallas Baptist.
