2013-2014 Applications
The Financial Aid Office would like to remind all of you that NOW IS THE TIME to start the application process for the 2013-2014 academic year. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for 13-14 is available and may be completed on line. As soon as you have your tax information, complete your tax form. Talk to your parents and encourage them to get their taxes completed as soon as they possibly can. Remember, if you are an Oklahoma resident, the State Oklahoma Tuition Aid Grant is basically a first come, first awarded grant. The only way to apply and possibly receive an OTAG is to get your FAFSA done early (March 15th is a good date to aim for). If you have any questions or need any help, please come by the Financial Aid Office (SL 106) we’d be glad to help.
Also, the deadline for the Foundation scholarship applications is March 1st, 2013. Pick up a list and application at the Foundation Office (SL207).
Filing applications early will mean less hassle next fall.

All financial aid paperwork should be completed at least six weeks prior to the beginning of each semester. All correspondence from this office will be utilized through your student email account. It is your responsibility to check this account.

Message From the Financial Aid Office
As the new year approaches and financial aid applications are pouring in for the 12-13 school year, I want to remind students that this is not an overnight process. Once you have filled out your FAFSA application at www.fafsa.ed.gov, you will receive a confirmation from FAFSA that your application has been submitted and they will provide you with an estimate of what financial aid you might receive. Please remember that this is just an ESTMIATE. The financial aid office at OPSU will not receive your application for approximately 24-48 hours. We will then start the process to determine exactly how much you qualify for. Expect this process to take up to 3 weeks if your paperwork is filled out correctly and no corrections are required.
We will correspond with you through your student email and your personal email. So please check your email periodically for communication from us. Students are selected at random from, the federal government, to verify their income reported on their FAFSA Application. When we receive your application we are notified of that request and at that time we will request you and your parents 2011 tax return from you. Depending on how quickly you return that information will also determine how long it takes to process your application.
Please call us anytime with questions but also be patient. It is not an overnight process.
Thank you.
