Hispanic-Student-Services

General Info

The mission of the Hispanic Student Services (HSS) at OPSU is to provide academic support, cultural understanding and academic guidance and counseling referrals for Hispanic students. The HSS office is responsible for providing programs and services that support persistence, retention and graduation of Hispanic students. The HSS office also assists with college transition issues unique to Hispanic students. Personnel are bilingual and assistance in Spanish is available as needed.

Our office also provides support for scholarship searches, resume building and creating, and assists with the application process for National Internships available through HACU (Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities) of which OPSU is a proud member. OPSU has been an HSI (Hispanic Serving Institution) since 2018.

Services offered include:

  • Financial aid and enrollment guidance
  • Leadership and professional development
  • Tutoring and study groups (can be in Spanish)
  • Connection to student organizations
  • Assistance with resumes
  • Assistance with finding scholarships, internships and grants
  • Student advocacy and assistance
  • DACA renewals
  • One-on-one cultural support and guidance
  • Campus/community events and activities
