Job Summary:

JOB SUMMARY: The Assistant Football Coach is responsible for the positive leadership, administration, management and promotion of all aspects of the football program. The Assistant Football Coach is required to teach, tutor, and instruct proper skills and skill development to student-athletes more than 50% of your time. Teaching responsibilities include instruction of physical health, team concepts, and safety. You will spend less than 30% of your time developing effective recruitment strategies, recruiting and following up on prospective students, researching and targeting high school and athletic camps as sources for potential student-athletes, and visiting high schools and athletic camps to conduct student interviews. The successful candidate will have the ability to develop and or understand competitive defensive schematics for the football program, recruit quality student athletes of good character qualified for an NAIA program, have excellent communication and organizational skills, be committed to student athlete academic success, and be able to effectively relate to students, colleagues, fans, and community members

8. Must be a professional, credible and respected representative of the institution internally and in the community.
9. Demonstrated willingness and ability to act ethically and socially responsible.
10. Must have the ability to organize, prioritize, and perform multiple tasks with little or no supervision.
11. Ability to communicate in a courteous manner.
12. Must be able to lift more than 100-lb. objects; frequent bending, stooping, and walking.
13. Ability to work various hours, including nights and weekends throughout the year for practice, games and recruiting.
14. Be able to transport team to the contests and be responsible for their well-being.
15. Could be exposed to a variety of weather conditions.
16. Other duties as assigned by the Head Football Coach or designee

1. Knowledge of and strict adherence to NAIA rules is required.
2. Demonstrated successful playing or coaching experience and technical competence is required.
3. Total support of the athletic program’s football scheduling vision for playing teams in the competitive range of OPSU is required

1. Bachelor’s degree is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
2. Demonstrated successful playing or coaching experience and technical competence at the collegiate or pro level is required.
