The administrative assistance performs diverse and highly responsible secretarial duties under general supervision with latitude for discretion in office management matters. In addition to secretarial duties, the administrative assistant performs administrative duties that contribute to the efficient operation of the RN to BSN Program. In this capacity, the administrative assistant has access to personal and restricted information, therefore, must maintain strict confidentiality in matters involving students, grading of students, faculty, other staff, and program administration.


  • Receive incoming communication (i.e. telephone, email, etc.) and facilitate information according to the nature of the message.
  • Manage general correspondence, minutes, agendas, forms, charts, self-studies, manuals, reports, hand-outs, etc. for the Program Director, faculty, and other departmental staff.
  • Maintain and manage student files.
  • Correspond with potential students about the program.
  • Manage incoming potential student request for program information, follow-up as needed, and encourage potential students to enroll in the program.
  • Assist with advising and management of new and continuing students.
  • Assist students with enrollment procedures.
  • Assist students with graduation procedures.
  • Assist the Program Director with annual reports.
  • Maintain office equipment.
  • Maintain inventory of departmental facilities and equipment.
  • Assist with supervision of student workers
  • Must be able to lift more than 50-lb. objects; frequent bending, stooping, and walking.
  • Strong organizational, management, and interpersonal skills are necessary
  • Strong communication skills demonstrating the candidate to be a positive motivator
  • Ability to communicate in a courteous manner
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing or his/her designee

  • High School diploma, college degree preferred.
  • Experience with secretarial work, organization, and data management.
  • Demonstrates proficiency with computer skills (Microsoft Office applications, internet, email, etc.).
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently without direct oversight and supervision.

Physical Requirements:

Hours: 12 month, part-time
