Sports Information at OPSU is a multi-dimensional function that includes the maintaining of sound relationships with the media, the OPSU athletic staff, the OPSU administration, fellow student workers, the Sooner Athletic Conference, and the NAIA. The Sports Information Director is responsible for keeping updated stats for various sports programs and design and layout of the athletic website throughout the year.


  • Bachelor’s degree required (communications, journalism, sport management or similar); Master’s degree preferred.
  • Significant experience with sports information in an NAIA athletic department.


  • Punctuality and Dependability is a must.
  • Must be at all home games prior to the start of that game to set up all statistical equipment, scoreboards, and videoboards.
  • Provide appropriate information to opposing schools, NAIA, and the Sooner Athletic Conference concerning rosters, statistics, and game files.
  • Prepare printed rosters of both the home and visiting teams for all home games.
  • Responsible for supervising and scheduling all student staff, caller(s), scoreboard, and data entry Sports
    Information personnel needed prior to all home games.
  • Sending game files to the opposing school, the Sooner Athletic Conference, and the NAIA (and logging in game scores to various websites) after each home game. Unless there is an issue, these things must be done at the table immediately after the game.
  • Make sure data entry (to varied websites) concerning rosters and schedules are accurate.
  • Responsible for submitting all appropriate student-athlete award nominations.
  • Monitor the Sooner Athletic Conference and NAIA DakStat websites to make sure the correct data has been properly logged in.
  • Set up of video streaming of all athletics contests.
  • Social media management across all platforms.
  • Multiple written publications per week including feature stories.
  • Live stat input supervision and packed file submission.
