JOB SUMMARY: The administrative assistant/student advisor functions as support personnel, provides academic advising to prospective and current students, and actively participates in recruitment of new students. The position requires discretion in office management matters. The administrative assistant/student advisor has access to personal and restricted information and must maintain strict confidentiality.


  • Minimum two years’ experience as a competent registered nurse.
  • Hold and maintain licensure as a registered nurse in Oklahoma or a compact state.
  • Demonstrate and maintain proficiency with computer literacy and online teaching skills.

Master’s degree with a major in nursing.


  • Serve as primary facilitator for all learning activities within assigned course.
  • Post a personal introduction on the first day of class.
  • Provide consistent timely feedback to questions, assignments, and course participation via communication tools provided within the online platform.
  • Actively participate in course discussions.
  • Evaluate student progress and achievement of expected student learning outcomes on a weekly basis.
  • Consistently implement and enforce course policies and procedures published in the course syllabus.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Program Director and/or Lead Faculty throughout the course.
  • Consult with the Program Director and/or Lead Faculty regarding any issues, conflicts or disagreements that arise during the course.
  • Provide feedback &/or recommendations to the Program Director regarding course revisions as requested.
  • Address student course-related questions on a daily basis.
  • Submit final grades by the published deadlines.
  • Collaborate with faculty and the Program Director to develop, implement, and evaluate online instruction.
  • Assist with the development of curriculum congruent with the mission, philosophy, goals, and objectives of the university and the RN to BSN Program.
  • Prepare online learning activities, projects, and presentations covering objectives for assigned courses.
  • Assess and evaluate student learning and progress.
  • Provide timely feedback to students according to the RN to BSN Program Faculty expectations.
  • Collaborate with Program Director and faculty in evaluation and revision of course content.
  • Participate in faculty and departmental meetings.
  • Assist RN to BSN students with arrangements for appropriate practicum activities with the student’s geographical area, as needed.
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development.
  • Counsel and advise students, as needed.
  • Promote and maintain a collegial relationship with faculty and students conducive to online learning.
  • Support philosophes and mission of Oklahoma Panhandle State University and the RN to BSN Program.
  • Assist and participate with departmental and program activities (i.e. accreditation standards, expectations, and
    preparation activities).
  • Must have a strong work ethic and lead by example.
  • Must be a professional, credible and respected representative of the institution internally and in the community
  • Demonstrated willingness and ability to act ethically and socially responsible
  • Must be able to lift more than 25-lb. objects; frequent bending, stooping, and walking.
  • Can be exposed to a variety of weather conditions for periods of time.
  • Ability to communicate in a courteous manner
  • Other duties as assigned Director of Nursing and/or designee.
