The Panhandle State Foundation makes
available several different forms of scholarships. Each year
a general scholarship amount is given to the university. This
amount fluctuates because it is the interest and dividends earned
from investments made possible through contributions to the Foundation. The
university uses these funds to support scholarships for academics,
music, art, drama and other activity scholarships such as the judging
team, rodeo, football, basketball, golf, etc.
Then there are the scholarships
established by various groups and individuals that students can
apply for through the Foundation office. There are two types:
endowed scholarships, where a lump sum of money is given to the
Foundation and the interest is used to fund a scholarship annually;
and restricted scholarships , where a specific amount of money
is sent to the Foundation each year and the full amount is given
as a scholarship. The endowed scholarships are established
to be on going with no further responsibilities to those establishing
the scholarship after they set the parameters for the said scholarship. Finally,
the Foundation has a program of matching civic scholarships for
all local organizations.
