DESCRIPTIVE INFORMATION:

OPSU is the smallest four year State University in Oklahoma. With the small size (1,200 students) several advantages to the student are apparent. Students are able to get the special attention many need to be a success in college. Students are able to experience many teaching strategies in a laboratory setting and the new wave of distance learning and multi-media are quickly becoming a way of life for the teacher education students at OPSU.

THEME OR SUMMATIVE PHRASE FOR CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK:

"Gateway to the Future: Preparing Effective Teachers Who Are Competent, Caring, and Committed"

The mission of the unit is to produce superior teachers who are knowledgeable in their disciplines, technologically advanced, proficient in pedagogy, empathetic to student needs, and dedicated to the concept of life-long learning.
