East Central University was established by legislative act in 1909 as one of three regional state normal schools. East Central’s primary mission is to design and provide academic programs of study to meet the present and emerging needs of the region. To this end, programs are offered for both traditional and non-traditional students.
The East Central Teacher Education Program is prescriptive with regard to what should be taught, reflective regarding what has been taught, and integrative with respect to the curriculum. These factors have been guiding influence on the development of the program. The Teacher Education Program faculty is committed to a collaborative approach to teacher education.
