All teacher education programs at the University of Tulsa emphasize liberal education as the foundation for teacher preparation. Secondary education and K-12 education programs require a double major — one in the academic discipline and one in education. The major in Elementary Education requires a minor in an academic discipline from the arts and sciences in addition to the professional education program. All graduate programs in education include a common core of courses designed to emphasize the role of the professional educator in action research, as will as preparation in an area of specialization.
