From time to time, the Association uses interest earned from the life memberships to help fund projects that beautify or better the campus.

Donations from alumni and friends help in a large part to fund these projects as well.

Projects funded totally or in part by Panhandle State Association include:

  • Plainsman sign on Highway 54
  • Honored Family trees
  • Clock Tower and Chimes in center of the plaza & Digital Update in 2012
  • Alumni Solarium in the Student Union
  • Memorials to alumni lost in the Oklahoma City bombing and America's military conflicts
  • Purchase of chairs and banquet tables for the Noble Center
  • Digital Video Camera purchased
  • War murals created by the OPSU art department outside the McKee Library
  • Gate pillar at Anchor D Stadium
  • Monday lunches to connect Students
  • Alumni database upgrade
  • Repair and rededication of the Sower statue

Current projects in progress are:

  • The Barbecue Beef Fund Endowment - The association helps sponsor a free Barbecue during homecoming and after the parade. It is the goal of the association to endow $40,000 so that the interest earned on that endowment will cover the cost of the barbecue. As of 10/21/2011, we have approximately $30,000 in the fund.

  • Alumni Scholarship The association has established an endowed scholarship in the foundation and selects recipients each year. The goal is to grow this scholarship to continue to support alumni and their future alumni children. Preference is given student who is a direct descendent of an OPSU graduate or a direct descendent of a current or life member of the Panhandle State Association of Alumni & Friends.
