Job Summary:

The Director of Admissions will provide leadership to the recruiting staff at Oklahoma Panhandle State University. Supervision of recruiters, student office employees, and OPSU Student Ambassadors are provided by the Director. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, visitations of high schools and community colleges, correspondence to prospective students, arranging campus visits for prospective students, designing and preparing promotional recruitment materials, maintaining a computer database for prospective students, and developing and implementing diverse recruitment strategies.


• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
• Computer application knowledge and experience required.
• Ability to interact positively with a wide range of people is a must.
• Strong written and oral communication skills required.
• Strong Organization, planning, and employee training and supervision skills.



• Oversee general OPSU recruitment efforts.
• Organize recruiting schedule including college affairs, high school visits and community college visits.
• Develop and implement a communication plan to prospective students throughout the recruiting year.
• Arrange campus visits including campus tour, completion of admissions paperwork, visiting with faculty, campus housing, financial aid, and answer questions.
• Participate in selection committee for Panhandle State Foundation Scholarships.
• Design and prepare annual viewbook used as a main promotional tool for the University. Create and obtain funding for any other promotional materials used by recruiters.
• Supervise the organization of Senior/Transfer Day at OPSU when all prospective OPSU students come to campus to learn more about OPSU.
• Design and implement other recruiting strategies (ex. Party on the Prairie, Homecoming, etc.).
• Maintain a current database for all students interested in attending OPSU.
• Provide Public Relations Director and Web Site Creator with information for press releases about upcoming events for potential students and scholarship awards.
• Assist Admissions Counselor with all aspects of the Pre-Enrollment Clinics.
• Responsible for all requests for information via phone, mail, and email to be sent to prospective students.
• Must have a strong work ethic and lead by example.
• Must be a professional, credible and respected representative of the institution internally and in the community
• Demonstrated willingness and ability to act ethically and socially responsible
• Must be able to lift more than 50-lb. objects; frequent bending, stooping, and walking.
• Can be exposed to a variety of weather conditions for periods of time.
• Ability to communicate in a courteous manner


• Other duties as assigned by Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs or designee.
